Pre-Conference Workshops

30 May 2025 - 1:00 - 8:30 pm | Registration and Light Lunch from 12:30pm

Our engaging pre-conference workshops will be held the day before the ATU on Friday 30 May.  Bookings are essential and can be made when you complete your conference registration.

Workshop 1: Driving higher vaccination rates 1:00 - 3:00pm

This workshop will explore strategies to enhance overall vaccination rates, specifically focusing on HPV, pertussis, RSV, shingles, and pneumococcal diseases. Participants will review current trends in vaccination efforts and learn how to utilise community partnerships to expand their reach. The discussion will also cover communication techniques to combat vaccine hesitancy and detail practical approaches to optimise the vaccination process for these key immunisations.

Workshop 2: Wound Care Unwrapped | 4:00 - 5:30pm

The session will cover best practice management of acute minor wounds in preparation for expanded scope of pharmacist practice. The session will include discussion about appropriate types of wounds that can be managed, identification of red flags and when referral to a general practitioner is necessary. Pharmacists will gain insights into integrating these expanded responsibilities into their practice while maintaining patient safety.

Workshop 3: Long-Acting Injectable Buprenorphine | 6:30 - 8:30pm

Join us for a two-course dinner (included in your $49.00 registration fee) as we embark on an interactive panel discussion on LAIB. Long-acting injectable buprenorphine (LAIB) is an effective and convenient treatment for opioid dependence, offering significant advantages for both patients and healthcare providers. With its improved safety profile, simpler dosing regimen, and ease of administration, LAIB presents a valuable opportunity for pharmacists to expand their role in opioid treatment. This workshop will provide pharmacists with the knowledge and practical skills needed to set up and operate an LAIB administration service, while also enhancing communication strategies with patients and demonstrating proper administration techniques.
