Synopsis:

This session will update pharmacists on the delivery of opioid agonist replacement services, and will focus on key aspects of the Victorian Opioid Pharmacotherapy Program (VOPP) and its role in supporting patients with opioid dependence. Participants will identify best practices for maintaining hygiene, especially when reusing T/A bottles in VOPP. The session will cover operational procedures essential for new staff and locums to efficiently navigate VOPP processes, including creating a simplified procedures book and pre-setup profiles in electronic systems. Safety protocols within the dose preparation area will be discussed to ensure safe dispensing practices. Additionally, attendees will recognise the importance of PBS script dating and adherence to regulations within the VOPP framework.

Learning objectives: 1. Identify best practices for takeaway dose preparation and maintaining hygiene in VOPP pharmacy services.

2. Discuss operational procedures essential for new staff members and locums to efficiently navigate procedures and electronic systems.

3. Describe protocols and safety measures in the dose preparation area.

4. Recognise the importance of PBS scripts and adherence to dating regulations in pharmacy operations.
