Details
An Australian survey of 2,000 parents found that around 60% felt distressed when thinking about vaccinating their child, highlighting the importance of calm, confident vaccinators who can create positive experiences for families.
This hands-on session gives pharmacists practical skills to make childhood vaccination smoother, safer, and far less stressful for children and their carers. Participants will practise real-world techniques, including age-appropriate positioning, comfort strategies, distraction methods, dose preparation, and safe injection technique.
The workshop also explores how to communicate effectively with children and parents, manage anxiety, and prevent escalation during appointments - all while keeping little patients smiling!
Learning Objectives:
• Identify age-appropriate positioning and comfort strategies for childhood vaccination.
• Discuss practical steps for preparing and administering childhood vaccines safely.
• Recognise effective communication and distraction techniques that reduce distress for children and carers.
