With Australians increasingly seeking overseas adventures, pharmacists play a critical role in preventing illness before it starts. This session explores common and emerging travel-related health risks and the pharmacist’s role in supporting safe and healthy journeys. Through practical case examples, participants will review vaccination and prophylaxis recommendations, managing medication supply across borders, and strategies for travellers with chronic conditions. The session will also address common traveller presentations such as jet lag, traveller’s diarrhoea, and motion sickness, highlighting evidence-based approaches for prevention and management. Learning objectives: • Identify common travel-related health risks and appropriate prevention strategies. • Discuss pharmacist roles in vaccination, prophylaxis, and travel medicine advice. • Recognise how to manage travel-related conditions and medication continuity for patients travelling overseas.
