In an increasingly complex healthcare environment, pharmacists must balance patient needs, compliance obligations and professional accountability while managing clinical and operational pressures. Drawing on the PDL Risk Management Guide for Pharmacists, this session explores how pharmacists can identify, assess, manage and review risks in everyday practice. Through practical examples and reflective strategies, participants will learn how to develop a proactive risk mindset, strengthen communication, and embed continuous quality improvement within their practice.
This session will support pharmacists in improving patient safety, reducing the likelihood of incidents, and enhancing professional confidence in a changing practice landscape.

• Recognise how governance and reflection support safer practice.

Biography
Claire is a registered pharmacist with over 20 years of experience, across a range of practice areas including community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, justice health and clinical education. She has worked with and for various pharmacy and health organisations in roles involving policy and regulation, workforce, quality improvement, scope of practice and clinical governance. Claire has experience in standards development, accreditation and quality management systems in both pharmacy education and practice settings. Claire brings her expertise and interest to the role of PDL Professional Officer and a member of the NSW/ACT Local Advisory Committee.

Biography
Amy Minion is PDL’s Lead Pharmacist – Education and Professional Development and has served on the PDL SA/NT Local Advisory Committee since 2017. She has managerial experience across metropolitan and rural community pharmacy settings, has delivered national intern training programs, and developed viable health service offerings for major banner groups.
Amy holds an MBA and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. She finds great fulfilment in empowering pharmacists through contemporary education and tools that support them to practice safely, efficiently, and to the top of their scope.
