Karen is an executive officer in the Australian Government with over two decades of experience shaping health policy and regulatory frameworks. Currently serving as Director in the PBS Compliance Section at the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, Karen leads national compliance initiatives in the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS). Her work has driven legislative reform, improved PBS compliance, and enhanced patient access to medicines. Karen is widely regarded for her leadership in initiatives that uphold the integrity and sustainability of Australia’s healthcare system.

Biography
Hyunji Yoon is the Assistant Director of the PBS Compliance Section at the Department of Health, Disability and Aging. A registered pharmacist with over a decade of experience across hospital, community, and regulatory settings, Hyunji is deeply passionate about supporting pharmacists and safeguarding the integrity of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS). Her firsthand understanding of the challenges pharmacists face informs her empathetic and practical approach to compliance education and stakeholder engagement. Hyunji has led national initiatives to promote accurate claiming and prescribing practices, ensuring PBS sustainability and equitable access to medicines. She holds a Master of Pharmacy and a Bachelor of Medical Science.
