Minor wounds, from cuts and grazes to burns and lacerations, are common in pharmacy and healthcare settings. Effective wound management is key to preventing infection, promoting healing, and minimising complications. This session will cover best-practice approaches for assessing and managing acute wounds, including wound cleansing, dressing selection, and red flags for referral. Gain confidence in providing expert advice to patients and optimising minor wound care in pharmacy practice.

Biography
Professor Dr Geoff Sussman is Associate Professor of Wound Care at Monash University and a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Melbourne. He consults at Austin Hospital’s Wound Clinic and has held academic roles at Oxford, Auckland, and St Anne’s College. With over 40 years in wound management, he’s published 200+ works and served on numerous national and international boards. He was awarded an OAM in 2006, lifetime achievement awards in Toronto and Kuala Lumpur, and was a 2021 State finalist for Senior Australian of the Year for his contributions as a researcher, educator, and clinician.
