This presentation will explore the expanding scope of practice for pharmacists, emphasising their evolving roles in public health and patient care. The session will focus on key areas such as Hepatitis C testing, palliative care, and the provision of non-remunerated services. By understanding these opportunities and challenges, participants will be better prepared to advocate for and implement extended services in their pharmacy practices. Biography

Dr Louisa Picco is an NHMRC Emerging Leadership Fellow. Her research predominantly focuses on identifying and responding to prescription opioid-related risks and harms, particularly via prescription drug monitoring programs and clinical screening tools. Her research has also focused on harm reduction services offered by community pharmacists.

Biography

Penny Liddell is a motivated pharmacist with a strong and diverse professional background and over 30 years clinical experience in community pharmacy, consultant pharmacy and academia. For the past three and a half years Penny has worked to develop and evolve a full clinical pharmacy service to Hummingbird House, QLD only paediatric hospice and she has been involved with the implementation and roll-out of Voluntary Assisted Dying in Queensland as part of the QVAD Support and Pharmacy Service. Penny is passionate about expanding the role of the pharmacist within a multidisciplinary healthcare team and is actively involved in stakeholder and research groups across the palliative care space.

Biography

Jack is a Lecturer in Pharmacy and Pharmacology. Jack is a practicing Community Pharmacist and has a strong interest in improving medication safety which is evident in his clinical practice, research and education of future health professionals. Maintaining clinical practice allows him to draw on real world experiences and incorporate this into his contemporary teaching and research endeavours.
