PSA’s Pharmacy Student of the Year (PSOTY) award recognise and celebrate outstanding pharmacy students by showcasing their counselling skills to the pharmacy profession.

All the state and territory finalists will travel to PSA24 to compete in the prestigious national final which will be held on the Friday afternoon of the conference.

Be there to witness them competing against their peers as they demonstrate their pharmacy knowledge and counselling techniques. Mentally test your skills and knowledge as the cases play out on stage before your eyes.

Join our host and watch the thrilling competition of the future of the profession’s skills and abilities. Join us as we host the final to determine the 2024 Pharmacy Student of the Year!

Learning objectives
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Determine appropriate methods for gathering information verbally from patients to make recommendations for management.
2. Recommend appropriate products or medicines to patients to manage a health complaint.
3. Provide patient education and counselling on the effective, safe and appropriate use of the recommended product or medicine.
Competency standards: 1.5, 2.3, 3.1, 3.2, 3.5, 3.6

Erin is a community pharmacist based in Canberra. She is a member of the Early Career Pharmacist Community of Special Interest Leadership Team and the current Vice-President of the ACT Branch Committee.

Biography

Ian Currie is currently a Product Manager at Viatris with a long experience in pharmacy starting in 2003. Graduated from the University of Newcastle with a Master of Pharmacy in 2012 and worked in community pharmacy for 6 years before moving to Viatris. Ian still works in community pharmacy at least once a month in which he enjoys as he can focus on patient service.

Biography

Ayomide is an early career pharmacist, PSA ECP Board Director and PhD candidate at Curtin Medical School in Perth, Western Australia. Passionate about digital health transformation, Ayomide is determined to make a meaningful contribution to the Pharmacy profession and is currently researching the technological needs of community pharmacists to enable contemporary pharmacy practice.
