Pharmacy management is forever looking to optimise workflow and minimise costs whilst maintaining high levels of patient care and satisfaction. But often, workspaces don’t support us to maximise pharmacy operations, let alone introduce new services or innovations. In a highly competitive environment, workflow automation and digitisation together with optimised workflows are paramount to promote longevity and sustainability. Together these factors enhance the working environment, overall workflow and sequence of physical operations. A well-designed workspace supported by appropriate digitisation and automation enables pharmacists to promote patient care, meet customer needs and improve productivity.
During this session, you will learn the myriad of ways that automation and digitisation can help you achieve your outcomes more efficiently. We will discuss the challenges of current workflows and strategies to enable you to implement greater efficiencies in your workplaces.
Learning objectives
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Outline ways to improve efficiencies and workflows in the current environment.
2. Recognise the individual and organisational benefits of implementing automation and digitisation in the pharmacy setting.
3. Implement strategies to optimise pharmacy operations to maximise pharmacy workflows.
Competency standards: 1.3, 4.5, 4.7
