Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a rising public health issue across all age groups. With new vaccines and monoclonal antibodies now available, pharmacists need to stay ahead of the rapidly evolving practice recommendations. This session unpacks the latest on RSV prevention: Who’s most at risk, What products are available, and When each should be given. Learn how to identify eligible patients, provide evidence-based recommendations, and confidently integrate RSV protection into everyday pharmacy practice; from newborns to older adults! Learning objectives: - Identify populations at risk of RSV and current prevention strategies available in Australia. - Discuss vaccine and monoclonal antibody options, including indications, timing, and co-administration. - Recognise the pharmacist’s role in supporting RSV prevention and patient education across all age groups. Biography

Dr Archana Koirala is a paediatric infectious diseases physician and immunisation specialist working at the National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance, The Children's Hospital at Westmead, and Nepean Hospital. She is a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sydney, and the chair of the Vaccination Special Interest Group at Australasian Society of Infectious Diseases. She has expertise in clinical infectious diseases, viral transmission and disease surveillance, and a a passion for education, health literacy and global health.
