Details
A patient walks into your pharmacy with a wound - what happens next? Pharmacists are frequently asked to assess minor wounds, recommend dressings and advise when further care is needed. In a busy pharmacy setting, dressing selection needs to support healing, protect the wound, minimise unnecessary dressing changes and consider the person’s skin type, comfort and ability to manage care at home.
This 90-minute interactive session will strengthen pharmacists’ confidence in recommending advanced wound care products using practical wound care principles and case-based discussion. Participants will explore moist wound healing, value-based healthcare, dressing function and selection, and the importance of matching absorbency and adhesion to wound characteristics and surrounding skin. Through guided table discussions using wound images, pharmacists will apply wound healing principles to common presentations, including surgical wounds, skin tears and minor burns.
