Details
Pharmacists have become trusted vaccination providers, yet opportunities remain to make immunisation a consistent part of year-round patient care. This workshop will use complex case examples to apply 2026 ATAGI advice and Australian Immunisation Handbook updates.
Through practical examples, participants will learn how to identify opportunities for protection across age groups and conditions, strengthen communication strategies, and implement effective follow-up and recall systems. The session will inspire pharmacists to take a leadership role in preventative health and embed vaccination as an ongoing part of quality pharmacy practice.
Learning objectives:
- Discuss strategies to improve engagement and vaccination uptake.
- Recognise how proactive planning supports continuity of care.
- Describe ways to embed vaccination as part of routine pharmacy services.
- Identify practice behaviours to be adopted that enable a whole-of-life approach to delivering vaccination care.
Competency standards (2016): 1.6, 2.1, 3.1, 4.2
