Details
Consultant pharmacists bring medicines expertise that can strengthen care not only wherever medicines are used, but also wherever they are discussed. This session explores how consultant pharmacists can create multidisciplinary momentum across three interconnected rooms: the consultation room, classroom and boardroom. Drawing on experience across general practice, education, PHN quality improvement and advisory work, it will highlight how clinical practice, teaching and strategic involvement can strengthen one another. The session will also provide practical steps for pharmacists seeking to expand their contribution while remaining grounded in medication safety, quality use of medicines and patient-centred care.
Learning objectives:
• Identify three settings where consultant pharmacists can contribute to multidisciplinary momentum.
• Explain how contribution across these settings strengthens multidisciplinary care and professional development.
• Apply practical steps to expand consultant pharmacist involvement in these settings.
