Synopsis Step into the evolving world of diabetes care with this interactive, hands‑on workshop designed especially for pharmacists. In this fun and practical session, you’ll explore the full spectrum of blood glucose monitoring—from traditional BGL meters to the latest continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems and insulin delivery devices. Participants will have the rare opportunity to try out real BGL testing, experience live CGM demonstrations, and compare how different devices work in everyday patient scenarios. Whether you're new to these technologies or looking to refresh your skills, you'll leave feeling confident, informed, and ready to support your patients with up‑to‑date, practical knowledge. Learning Objectives 1. Describe the role of blood glucose levels (BGLs) in diabetes management. 2. Compare traditional BGL monitoring and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems. 3. Demonstrate correct technique for using standard BGL meters and interpreting readings. 4. Explain CGM features, sensor insertion, data capture, alarms, and trend interpretation. 5. Compare the practical and clinical differences between BGL and CGM monitoring approaches. 6. Discuss insulin delivery technologies. Competency Standards (2016): 1.6, 3.2, 3.3, 3.5, 3.6

Biography

Deborah is the current chair of PSA’s Consultant Pharmacist Community of Special Interest and a branch committee member of the PSA Vic. She is a rural pharmacist located in North East Victoria and has a portfolio career consisting of consultant pharmacy, GP pharmacy, diabetes education, advocacy and research.

Biography

Elise is a dual-qualified accredited exercise physiologist and credentialled diabetes educator. She has more than a decade of experience driving innovative health programs and professional development across the healthcare continuum, including community, aged care, disability, private practice, and private hospital sectors. She is a senior clinician and leader of the diabetes team at the Gold Coast Private Hospital and is also a lecturer at the University of Western Australia. Elise played a key role in the development and delivery of the diabetes education course, significantly contributing to the professional training of future clinicians. She is recognised for her governance-focused contributions to professional standards as a CDE Board Director for ADEA.
