Deprescribing through the eyes of a consultant pharmacist
Biography
Angus Thompson is a Consulting Clinical Pharmacist conducting Home Medicines Reviews in Southern Tasmania. Alongside this role, Angus is a Clinical Editor and Pharmacist Consultant for Primary Health Tasmania, a Senior Lecturer in Prescribing Principles, National Prescribing Curriculum (NPC) Program, University of Tasmania, and a a Subject Matter Expert for the Australian Pharmacy Council.
Angus trained in the UK, starting his career in Hospital Pharmacy before moving into a Primary Care role as a Prescribing Advisor and General Practice pharmacist. Since relocating to Tasmania in 2008, Angus has worked in Community and Hospital Pharmacy, on various Quality use of Medicines projects, and contributed to many educational events for pharmacists and other health professionals.
Angus's contribution to the Pharmacy profession was reflected by him being recognised as Tasmanian Pharmacist of the Year in 2017.
