This practical workshop will guide pharmacists through the essentials of clinical auditing, claims management and reporting in aged care. Attendees will learn how to design and conduct audits, interpret findings, and meet reporting and documentation expectations that align with aged care quality and safety requirements. The session will focus on applying governance principles to strengthen accountability and continuous improvement in medicine management. Learning objectives: · Describe the purpose and process of clinical audits in aged care pharmacy practice. · Identify reporting and claims management requirements to meet quality and safety standards. · Discuss governance and documentation practices to support transparent and compliant service delivery. Biography

Assistant Director Clinical Advisor within the Behaviour Support and Restrictive Practices Unit (RPU) at the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission. As an AHPRA registered pharmacist with a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) and Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science, Joseph previously worked as a clinical pharmacist at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. He applies this clinical knowledge to assist the aged care sector in understanding their responsibilities regarding behaviour support and restrictive practises, including the appropriate and safe use of chemical restraint.

Biography

Elise has extensive experience in the delivery and management of health-related projects across local and state government, and regulatory Commonwealth agencies including Comcare and the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (the Commission). Elise has worked as a Senior Quality Assessor and Decision Maker for the Commission, providing a comprehensive understanding of aged care legislation, the Australian aged care system and issues impacting the sector including antimicrobial stewardship, the use of psychotropic and high-risk medications, and living with dementia. Elise is currently the Program Manager for the Commission’s Clinical Pharmacy Unit, overseeing the Pharmacy Outreach Program to support quality use of medications across the residential aged care sector. Elise has qualifications in Public Health, Project Management, and Government Investigations.
